Villa 18 by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos
Vision and Context
The project for Villa 18 emerges from the luxury context of the La Moraleja estate near Madrid. Designed by the Valencia-based studio Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, it sits with diagonal views toward a lake adjacent to the golf course, allowing the residence to develop primarily on a single main level.
Architectural Composition & Materials
Villa 18 articulates three interlocking volumes of different heights: two volumes define the day zone and terrace oriented to the southeast, while a third houses the night zone in its own more private outdoor space. ArchDaily+1 The design frees the landscape view by structural geometry that eliminates visible supports. ArchDaily
Materials are key: a studied palette of warm whites, natural stone from Colmenar, ash wood from Madrid forests, brass finishes and carefully selected lighting temperatures (~2 700 K) create a tranquil, integrated heterogeneity.
Experience & Interior Spaces
At the lower floor, Villa 18 locates wellness and complementary uses: a gym, pool and other spaces illuminated via a skylight. The spatial strategy draws inspiration from sculptor Andreu Alfaro, where curves and straight elements flow into one another: the pool becomes terrace, transitions into façade, then back to pool.
Why Villa 18 Matters
Villa 18 exemplifies how luxury residential architecture can fuse formal rigour, material subtlety and landscape integration. The way volumes slide, materials warm, and views engage makes it an exemplary project of modern home design by Fran Silvestre arquitectos. It shows how architecture becomes a setting for life, not just a shelter.
